Dear AUB alumni:

The Nominations Committee is pleased to kick off the 2012 WAAAUB elections.

As per the WAAAUB bylaws which were revised in 2011, alumni will only be electing Council members from the designated geographic regions.

As with prior elections, the 2011 elections will be conducted on a worldwide basis in a seamless and effective manner, and will be managed by an independent third party. The objective remains consistent: to ensure that WAAAUB continues to represent and act on behalf of all AUB alumni.

WAAAUB Council Role and Responsibilities

The Council shall be the representatives of the Alumni At-large. The Council shall elect eleven members of the Board of Directors and the members of the four Standing Committees of WAAAUB from among the Council members. It shall act as a forum for the exchange of information among chapter presidents and other Council members and provide an opportunity for the discussion of common issues. The Council shall participate in the Convention (detailed further in Section 6.6 of WAAAUB bylaws http://www.waaaub.org/pdf/WAAAUB_bylaws.pdf ). The WAAAUB Council is the body from which the WAAAUB Board of Directors and its Standing Committee members are elected.

2012 Elections highlights:

  1. Alumni must elect 37 new members to the WAAAUB Alumni Council to fill the positions of members whose terms expire on June 30, 2012.

  2. Nominations start on February 1, 2012; the deadline for receiving nominations for the Council elections is February 28, 2012.

  3. The Nominations Committee and the WAAAUB Board will finalize the slates for elections in March.

  4. Council candidates’ biographies and photos will be posted for review on the WAAAUB website (www.waaaub.org).

  5. The deadline for voting in the Council elections will be April 15, 2012.

  6. Once again, elections will be conducted only electronically (no paper ballots) so make sure that your email is on record at WAAAUB. Send your email to alumni@aub.edu.lb by March 15, 2012 or send a question to the same address to confirm that we have your email.

If you believe you or someone you know would be a good candidate, please email the Nominations Committee at: nominations-committee@waaaub.org, by the deadline of February 28. When nominating someone, please include your candidate’s email/contact information so we can request that the person complete a candidate’s biography.

Needless to say, we can only succeed with your participation so please get involved and encourage fellow alumni to do the same. We look forward to hearing from you.
